Here are some highlights for October:

The first week of October starts with Venus and Mars conjoining.  On October 3^rd they will be… one…OOMMM…. at 12 degrees of Scorpio!  Lady Gaga and the stock market watch out!

The Opportunity: This combo arouses strong desires, physical passions, and artistic creativity. 

Physical activities from belly dancing to paint ball games are enjoyed. The word Party goes to another dimension.

It is a time for gender change operations, cross dressing or leather fantasies.

If you do Shamanic work or sexual magick, October 1st through 7^th is the time to do it, the 3rd being the most optimum time. 

Also it is a great time to create a body for a soul to enter; the parents in love and reverence have Divine love/sex honoring the sacred contract they have previously written for the child and each other.

May every child be loved, wanted and planned by kind, wise parents!!!

The Challenge:  Obsessions, stalking, revenge, so called honor killings,

covert financial dealings, forced marriages, the drug wars will reach a pinnacle.

The Sun and Saturn are conjoined within 5 degrees the first week of October.  Along with what else is happening, the financial sector goes to the next phase of trying to correct the global financial crisis.  And after months of overt and covert meetings, the powers that be are putting the finishing touches on their negotiated plan. Will it work?  We will see an indicator of what direction the plan takes at the end of this month….last 9 days.

For the big picture; the economic system of the world will continue to falter.  

In the USA; single home housing will continue a downward trend as apartment and condo construction increases. Unemployment will be in the double digits this month. 

Commodities will increase in popularity.

Jupiter and Uranus are conjoined in last 05 degrees of Pisces all month; having a one degree difference at the start of the month to a three degree at the end. 

The Challenge:  Religious zealots, financial fluctuations, hurricanes, floods and electrical storms will continue to plaque us.  Radical political views will escalate. Protests galore!

The Opportunity:  What a good time for new money making ideas!   Many wonderful inventions will be traced back to this time.  If you are the type that always sees inventions on TV that you thought of months or years before, this is a month for you to get a journal and write down your ideas…. no matter how bizarre they seem.

Start marketing your ideas on October 15^th.

Having Jupiter and Uranus conjoined in Pisces along with Venus and Mars conjoined in Scorpio makes for an amazing time of insight. 

Truly it is the time of the Phoenix. But is the phoenix rising out of its ashes?  This is what I imagine.

The Phoenix says to the Griffin,” Hey pal, do you smell something burning?”

RETREAT:  My next Women’s retreat will be the weekend of October 29-31, in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

This is an intimate retreat for 13 women only! 

This retreat is a time for women to connect with the Divine Feminine.

It is a time for women to explore their personal power and spirit.

We will create Sacred Ceremony invoking the Great Goddess.  We will also learn Spell Work and Candle Magick for manifestation. I only teach White/good Magick.

The veil between the worlds is the thinnest during Samhain/Halloween.  We will also honor our ancestors and those who have gone to the other side.

The retreat is located at Salamander Camp which is less than 10 minutes outside of Los Gatos in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  You would never know you are near a city.

Salamander Camp has three huge yurts; one is the kitchen, one for ceremonial work and one for sleeping (beds and futons). 

It has showers, complete kitchen, wood burning stoves for heat, composting toilets, electricity, hot tub, labyrinth, fairy grotto, hiking trails, and two old growth Redwoods.

This retreat is a retreat.  You will have lots of time to yourself: to walk in the forest, sit by the stream and mediate, read, journal, hot tub, or whatever your heart desires.

Picture yourself at night, floating in a redwood hot tub, gazing at thousands of stars as you smell the smell of the forest!  The only sound is the union of your breath and the breeze.  Ah!  I am there already!

The price includes all your meals and lodging.  The meals are delicious and organic. Please tell me if you have any dietary restrictions so we can make you your own delicious food.

AFFIRMATION

I am excited and enthusiastic about Life!

 

          How do you become enthusiastic about life? I watched folks entering church last Sunday. Some were smiling, laughing and welcoming others and there were people who had a slight frown, didn’t smile and even during the hilarious service by humorist Scott Kalechstein, wore a worried face. It seemed they were determined not to enjoy themselves. And I started thinking about what it took to be “enthused.”

          Have you ever met people who, no matter what they’re working on, no matter what they are encountering in life, they bubble over with enthusiasm? It’s like they are their own personal cheerleading squad. They refuse to get discouraged, no matter how many things go wrong. They believe so much in what they’re doing that nothing deters them. And, through their remarkable enthusiasm and their eternal optimism, they refuse to give in to negativism.

          Many of you who have been to the Center for Creative Living have met some of these wonderfully enthusiastic people and interestingly they are usually the busiest! It would seem that doing nothing, sitting at home and having plenty of time on your hands – doesn’t necessarily spell happiness, enjoyment or even a degree of contentment! Isn’t that amazing? We are taught that when you “retire” you will be happy, enthusiastic and joyful. And yet, it would appear that the people who continue to go out socially, volunteer for meaningful charities, exercise daily and have loads of friends tend to thrive and live a better life!

          Wow, what would it take to be more enthusiastic? Or, do we stay the same way we have been? Dale Carnegie, author of the classic book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, once said, “Act enthusiastic and you will be enthusiastic.” While gaining a real sense of enthusiasm takes a little more work than that, embracing Carnegie’s attitude can get you started. The following is a list of things that might get you kick-started on your enthusiastic and enlivened path:

1.  Take a full inventory, especially focusing on where you’re negative or pessimistic.  Then study where you already have some enthusiasm. Yep – there is some enthusiasm in all of us. It might be babies, puppies, kittens, and a walk on the beach, a funny movie or old I Love Lucy videos. But – there is some buried there somewhere.

2. Look at what’s behind any negativity and continue to work on increasing your enthusiasm.  When you experience challenges and setbacks in life, I realize it’s difficult to be enthusiastic.  Call a friend, go to church, ride a roller coaster – or contact a life coach, counselor, and friendly minister or maybe just practice smiling!

          3.  Cultivate a positive, optimistic attitude by examining where you’re already enthusiastic.  Meditate upon your current enthusiasm and positive spirits a few times a day.  Over time, you should find your enthusiasm increasing.

          4.  Seek out things you’re genuinely enthusiastic about.  Start with what you’re already enthusiastic about, and find similar things to add to the list.  Joining groups that share your interests, either online or in person, is one easy way to find what you’re enthusiastic about.

          5.  Spend time with people who are sincerely enthusiastic and have no problem expressing it.  Being around this sort of person can make it easier to display your own enthusiasm.

          6.  Change your behavior to reflect enthusiasm.  Instead, if you feel enthusiastic on the inside, let it come to the outside. Keep Smiling!

          7.  Widen your circle of enthusiasm.  The more things you can find to be enthusiastic about, the more enthusiasm can become your natural trait. Don’t forget – splashing in a fountain, squirting someone with a squirt gun, running through the sprinklers – or riding that roller coaster!

          Remember – you can bring enthusiasm to a whole new level – and it will become contagious. You can’t be a “Wow!” person without having some of it spill over onto others. Before you know it, you will be having new friends with new visions – asking you to help them become more alive! Enthusiasm is an important part of living a long, happy and wonderful life – surrounded by delightful friends and feeling better in your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical being.

          For me – I am so enthusiastic about this coming Sunday’s speaker – Carol Lynn Pearson – I am yelling her name from the rooftops – contacting everyone I know, emailing, phoning, going on Facebook and even taking out an ad in the Metro. Every time I think of her visiting our small center – I break out into a smile. My idol is coming to San Jose – and she is visiting us! Whoopee! Snoopy dance time!

          Pearson is probably best known for her book Goodbye, I Love You and the LDS musical, My Turn On Earth. Her play Facing East, about a Mormon family dealing with the suicide of a gay son, opened Off Broadway on 29 May 2007.  She also wrote One on the Seesaw, a lighthearted book about raising a family as a single parent.

          1:00 to 3:00 Ms. Pearson will be presenting a workshop entitled “Magic of Coincidences.” The fee is $25; it will be an exceptionally amazing and magical workshop.

Is it just me, or do you smell fall in the air? This past week in the mornings as I have been walking, the air just smells different. The temperature is a bit cooler and I feel a sense of change in the energy around me.

Yes for those of you wondering, the squirrels are busy darting about along the patio fence. So far the plants have not been disturbed. I continue to visualize a calm and peaceful patio undisturbed by visiting four-footed animals!

We have put out some fall decorations in the office getting ready for next month’s Halloween holiday. As a child I loved Halloween, afraid to admit it was because of all the candy! Must have been when I developed my sweet tooth and love for Chocolate. Which reminds me, I need to go to the store and get some treats to have available for those of you who drop in to visit us here in the office. Yes there will be chocolate!

Affirmation

I know God loves laughter

          Last week’s service was a fun-packed time. Scout Bartlett was entertaining, humorous and very spiritual in his talk. The fun continued to be expressed in our community enjoyment of fantastic soul soothing food and joyous merriment.

          Having spent some months doing stand-up in San Francisco: yep, your Rev. Boon was a comedian for a short stint, I realize how important it is for people to have laughter in their heads and hearts.

          And, most importantly laughing at yourself dissolves most of the depression, anxiety and craziness in your present life.

          Rev. Corky Whitacre has the most contagious laugh. If you haven’t heard it – get one of our Sunday Celebration CDs and hear for yourself. It will make you smile, giggle a bit and finally guffaw – without knowing what was funny. Or better yet – have her repeat a joke in a crowd. Because, the sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds our CCL family together and increases happiness and intimacy. In addition to the domino effect of joy and amusement, laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body.

Humor and laughter strengthen immune systems, boost energy, diminish pain, and protect from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.

Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, laugh relieves tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.

Laughter boosts the immune system.  It increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies; improving resistance to disease.

Laughter triggers the release of endorphins; Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.

Laughter protects the heart. One recent study from the University of Texas found those who chuckled while watching a comedy increased the dilation of blood vessels by one-fifth for up to 24 hours; when they watched a serious documentary, arteries actually constricted by 18%. “When you’re happy, your body releases feel-good neurochemicals, which can have numerous favorable effects on the body.” David Katz, MD, Yale University School of Medicine.

Laughter and humor help you stay emotionally healthy

Humor helps you keep a positive, optimistic outlook through difficult situations, disappointments, and loss. Laughter gives you the courage and strength to find new sources of meaning and hope. In the most difficult of times, a laugh– a smile–makes you feel better.

The link between laughter and mental health

Laughter dissolves distressing emotions. You can’t feel anxious, angry, or sad when you’re laughing.

Laughter helps you relax and recharge. It reduces stress and increases energy; enables you to stay focused and accomplish more.

Humor shifts perspective, allows you to see situations in a less threatening light. A humorous perspective creates psychological distance, which can help you avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Laughing with others is more powerful than laughing alone

Shared laughter is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting. Emotional sharing builds strong and lasting relationship bonds, but sharing laughter and play adds joy, vitality, and resilience. Laughter unites people during difficult times.

 

Using humor and laughter in relationships allows you to:

Be more spontaneous. Humor gets you out of your head and away from your troubles.

Let go of defensiveness. Laughter helps you forget judgments, criticisms, and doubts.

Release inhibitions. Your fear of holding back and holding on are set aside.

Laughter is your birthright; Infants begin smiling during the first weeks of life and laugh out loud within months of being born. Even if you did not grow up in a household where laughter was a common sound, you can learn to laugh at any stage of life.

Begin by setting aside times to seek out humor and laughter, as you might with working out, and build from there. Eventually, you’ll want to incorporate humor and laughter into your life, in everything.

Here are some ways to start:

Smile. Smiling is the beginning of laughter – practice smiling.

Count your blessings. Make a list. Seeing good things in your life distances you from negative thoughts barrier to humor and laughter.

When you hear laughter, move toward it. Sometimes humor and laughter are private, a shared joke among a small group. More often, people are very happy to share something funny because it gives them an opportunity to laugh again and feed off the humor you find in it. When you hear laughter, seek it out and ask, “What’s funny?”

Spend time with fun, playful people. These are people who laugh easily–both at themselves and at life’s absurdities–and who routinely find the humor in everyday events. Their playful point of view and laughter are contagious. Join us at CCL for fun and spiritual joy!

          Hebrew Lesson

At the Henry Street Hebrew School, the rabbi finished the

day’s lesson. It was now time for the usual question period.

“Rabbi,” asked little Melvin, “there’s something I need to

know.”

“What’s that, my child?” asked the rabbi.

“Well, according to the Scriptures, the Children of Israel

crossed the Red Sea, right?”       

“Right.”

“And the Children of Israel built the Temple, right?”

“Again you are correct.”

“And the Children of Israel fought the Egyptians, and the

Children of Israel fought the Romans, and the Children of

Israel were always doing something important, right?”

“All that is correct,” agreed the rabbi. “So what’s your

question?”

“What I need to know is this,” demanded Melvin. “What Were?

all the grown-ups doing?”

            A burglar broke into a house one night. While shining his flashlight around him heard, “Jesus is watching you.”

          Scared – he waited a bit. He started removing wires from the electronics and again heard, “Jesus is watching you.”

          His flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. “Did you say that?”

          “Yep,” the parrot said. “Just trying to warn you” he squawked

            “Who do you think you are?” the burglar chided.

          “Moses,” replied the parrot.

          “Moses?” the burglar laughed. “What kind of people would name a bird Moses?

          “The same kind of people who would name a Rottweiler Jesus!”

SUNDAY IN SAN JOSE – September 19th

I will be speaking and singing at an extremely spiritual and fun church 

called the Center For Creative Living in San Jose on September 19th 

between 10 and 11:30 AM. This is one of my favorite churches to visit. 

They are a church for people who don’t like church. Nothing shocks 

them, and they welcome my outrageousness. So, I hold nothing back. 

Yippee!

After the service there will be lunch, and then I will lead a workshop 

called The Conscious Relationship Workout, filled with inspiration, 

tools, music, wisdom and laughter for the relationship journey. It 

will be suitable for those starting a relationship, ending a 

relationship, in a relationship, wanting a relationship, or for those 

who have sworn off relationships and would like some healing about 

that. Singles, couples, and those who defy all categories are welcome.

$25 suggested love offering for the workshop, nobody turned way due to 

paying less or more.

The church is at 1460 Koll Circle, Suite C, San Jose, CA 95112.
