Sunday Celebrations

May 26 ”Loving Without Limits (Matthew5:38-48)” with Rev. Doti Boon
Quite often when I am giving a sermon I talk about how we should emulate God and “Love Without Limits”  The Mother/Father God is not limiting but endless. Spirit is relentless – always there, never far away and completely within our ability to love. Sometimes people feel that this spiritual energy will abandon them if they aren’t “perfect”.  We are always perfect in the eyes of the Mother/Father God.  This seems difficult for many folks to understand and even more difficult to believe. Join Rev. Doti this Sunday as she awakens you to the spirit that loves you “no matter what”.June 16 ”Divine Intelligence” with Robert PeralaJune 23 Dr. Ayleen Augustine

HUMOR:

For our pastor’s 50th birthday, the congregation decided to give him a new suit. He was so touched by the gift that the following Sunday he stood before everyone and, with tears in his eyes, announced, “Today I am preaching to you in my birthday suit.”
~ ~ ~ ~
A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside.
The Pastor said to him, “You need to join the Army of the Lord!”
My friend replied, “I’m already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor.”
Pastor questioned, “How come I don’t see you except at Christmas and Easter?”
He whispered back, “Shhhh, I’m in the secret service.”
~ ~ ~ ~
The two thousand member Baptist church was filled to overflowing capacity one Sundaymorning. The preacher was ready to start the sermon when two men, dressed in long black coats and black hats entered thru the rear of the church.
One of the two men walked to the middle of the church while the other stayed at the back of the church. They both then reached under their coats and withdrew automatic weapons.
The one in the middle announced, “Everyone willing to take a bullet for Jesus stay in your seats!”
Naturally, the pews emptied, followed by the choir. The deacons ran out the door, followed by the choir director and the assistant pastor.
After a few moments, there were about twenty people left sitting in the church. The preacher was holding steady in the pulpit.
The men put their weapons away and said, gently, to the preacher, “All right, pastor, the hypocrites are gone now. You may begin the service.”

This Sunday at CCL
 ”UCM”
UCM Trustees speaking after annual meetiucm symbolng. Featuring comments and vision from entire UCM Board including newly elected trustees.

What is the Universal Church of the Master?

This coming Saturday, May 18th, starting at 1:00the Universal Church of the Master will be holding their annual meeting at our Center.  As many of you are aware, UCM is the parent church for the Center for Creative Living and we are excited to be hosting this annual meeting.
Besides the annual meeting the UCM President Reverend Sandy Clark has announced her upcoming retirement and this meeting will be her last as officiator at the Annual Meeting. I know she would love to have you there.
In fact all of the Board of trustees, including the two new Trustees and committee chairs would love to have you there. This is an excellent opportunity to watch the Universal Church of the Master in action as the Board discusses the future plans of the church.
The meeting will be initiated with a presentation by Reverend Carole Fitzgerald who will be updating us on “Ceremonies”, a specialty of her ministerial practice.
There will be a wonderful Silent Auction full of treasures donated by our community, things like certificates for readings, healings, get-a-ways and restaurants, multiple baskets of special items will also be available. Come and bid often for your enjoyment and the financial health of UCM.
The conference will continue on Sunday the 19th of May as I have invited the UCM Board to speak at our Sunday Celebration on their vision of UCM going forward. That service will be followed by a white elephant sale of spiritual and decorative items which will also benefit UCM.
Many folks ask me what the Center for Creative Living is based upon. We are a charter of UCM which was founded in 1908 as a spiritualist church. It was founded as a church in which members are encouraged to develop and exercise their spiritual gifts. They discourage adherence to rigid dogmas and tenets, believing that each person must find and travel his/her own path in the Light, and that no single set of fixed rules is applicable to everyone in their spiritual quest. I appreciate one of their most important quotes:

“I love you, my brother, whoever you are – whether you worship in your church, kneel in your temple or pray in your mosque. You and I are children of One Faith, for the diverse paths of religion are fingers of the loving hand of One Supreme Being, and hand extended to all”. -Kahlil Gibran

Down through the centuries, thousands of unfortunate sensitives were called witches or heretics, and tortured or killed for no other “crime” than that they could heal the sick, prophesize or exhibit other gifts of Spirit. It was not until humanity began to break away from the bonds of rigid ecclesiastical thinking, that ordinary people could openly begin to access, rediscover, learn, develop and practice their innate abilities that come with a deeper awareness and understanding of Spiritual Truth.

From its earliest years, UCM has emphasized spiritual healing, prophecy and demonstrations of the continuity of life beyond the transition commonly called “death”. As we move closer to world unity and a new age of Universal Brotherhood and Sisterhood, UCM is now placing greater attention upon training and developing the spiritual powers of its ministers to bring us into this new “Golden Age”.
The Center for Creative Living, like many of UCM’s charters, ordains ministers and presents classes for women and men to become aware of their metaphysical and healing abilities. Students can elect to study for a Licentiate Minister’s Certificate, which requires a minimum of one year of study. The Licentiate shall be certified to administer and perform Divine healing, to give counsel, inspirational and spiritual messages and instruction, and to teach the gospel of Christ and Universal Truth. The students may also become Ordained Ministers. This entails a another year of study. At completion, the student is entitled to perform all the duties of a licentiate minister, plus marriage ceremonies, christenings, baptism, funeral and memorial services.
UCM also has an accredited Remote Degree program offering Associate, Bachelor, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Theology.
Please check out the free UCM annual meetingon Saturday for more information about this exciting and interesting spiritualist church.

  May We Feel Compassion

May each of us find our true path and learn from our mistakes (karma) and accept each other’s evolutionary pathway and not feel, show, or express disapproval with the choices the other makes.

May we feel compassion instead of hatred, love instead of anger, and an acceptance not only of others but of ourselves as well. May each of us do all of the above in a mindful way.

Thank you to all of the wonderful folks who sent cards, wrote emails, called and went to the hospital. All of your compassion, love and prayers are so welcomed.  ”God-Force, Barriers and You”
Beccawith
Rev. Bec Thompson

The only barrier between the subject and you, is your definition of the word:  Once you define a thing it is then limited to being that thing.
This sermon will be about how easy it is to move from perceived limitations into a new space that you always had access to – but didn’t realize it was there because it was defined as something else or did not “look” like your definition of it.

Care For One Another

by Rev. Doti Boon

I have probably spent more time this year receiving and writing about compassion than any other time. Mainly I am concerned about the anger, fear and negative energy flowing around the planet. Yes, there are major difficulties in the world – but they aren’t you! Think of things that you can do to help raise the consciousness of yourself, family, friends and Mother Earth.

During these times of sorrow and pain it is important that we send prayers to all that are going through difficult times – particularly the Boston Marathon survivors, the parents and families of the murder victims and all who have been touched by this terrorist attack. It is also important that we pray for the parents of Tamerlan Tsamaev and Dzhokhar Tsamaev and their inability to accept their sons’ motives and actions. But, it is also important that we direct prayers to the spirits of these misguided young men and like-minded people all over the world that they receive the love and hope needed to move their energies into a positive outcome.

I have found some of the greatest words about love and compassion are written and spoken by His Holiness the Dalai Lama – it is time we listen to his words and take them to heart.

The Dalai Lama feels the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well-being becomes. Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. This helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the ultimate source of success in life.

As we look at all of the tragedies happening around the world, we need to understand that as long as we live in this world we are bound to encounter problems. Compassion reduces our fears, boosts our confidence and brings us inner strengths. According to the Dalai Lama, if, at such times, we lose hope and become discouraged, we diminish our ability to face difficulties. If, on the other hand, we remember that it is not just ourselves but everyone who has to undergo suffering, this more realistic perspective will increase our determination and capacity to overcome troubles. Indeed, with this attitude, each new obstacle can be seen as yet another valuable opportunity to improve our mind!

Mainly, the Dalai Lama feels that we are alive and living on planet earth to help bring about love and compassion to ourselves and others. Remember – without another’s loving care, none of us would have lived more than a few days. Keep Loving each other and yourself!

Classes at CCL

SAT. May 4 - 7:00 to 9:00 – Drudic Celebration – Beltane with Dr. Ayleen. Beltane, the third of the four Celtic fire festivals, is the start of the light or “samos” half of the year. It starts now at dusk on the 30th of April and continues through May 1st. For the ancient Celts though, this was a holiday that depended on nature for its beginning. Traditionally, it was celebrated when the Hawthorn trees began to bloom.
Traditions such as the Maypole dances wearing of bells (to frighten the mischievous fairy folk which in Celtic lands were not considered friendly), dousing all fires in the community to be re-lit from the sacred fires, passing between or over fires, or through the smoke for purification are derived.  Sexuality was expressive and performed in honor of the God and Goddess. Today, Beltane is commonly known and celebrated as “May day” and the dance of the maypole still observed in many European cultures and the United States.  While at Alban Eilir the young couple’s love was platonic, by Beltane they have grown to know the pleasures of sexuality. The festival is one which celebrates union.
Beltane was the time of sensuality revitalized, the reawakening of the earth and all of her children. It was the time when tribal people celebrated with joy the vivid colors and vibrant scents of the season, tingling summer breezes, and the rapture of summer after a long dormant winter. It was customary that Handfastings, for a year and a day, take place at this time.
Come share the evening with discussion of the significance of Beltaine and enjoy a feast of ceremonial foods, poetry and music.  Dress as you feel celebrates the season…have fun with it! (Druids should wear their ceremonial whites).
The cost of the evening is $20.00.  Payments can be made at the door.
If cost is an issue, please contact Dr. Ayleen or Kyna.
