Vol. 10 pg 29 (07-21-11) PETS

AFFIRMATION

Pets are God‘s Spiritual Messengers

Each week I talk about how we handle stress, work with people, deal with difficulties and nurture our family and friends and many other topics. This week, after receiving the following wonderful story submitted by Rev. Pajo Brooks, I decided to talk about the joy and spirituality of having pets in our homes.

We often focus on what we can teach our pets and forget to look at what our pets can teach us.  Animals have loving characteristics which, if we embraced, would help us lead happier, more fulfilled and more spiritual lives.

Pets don’t give up.  If you throw a ball at them they will try to catch it every time; even if they miss every single time. And more importantly, they don’t give up on love either. No matter how many times they are yelled at or rebuffed they keep coming back, expecting to be loved and cared for.

Pets know how to accept love.  They never ask whether they are worthy of it; simply accept it as their due.  And they give back love unconditionally, showing their joy with no restraints.

Because they are so easy to love, animals give us an opportunity to experience unconditional love and to understand how spirituality radiates out and encompasses an ever-widening circle.

Pets ask for what they want; whether they need to be petted, walked or played with, they will let you know.  They are not embarrassed to let people know how they can be of service.

We learn that compassion is based on seeing others for who they are, not for how they are like us.

Another lesson is how to live in the moment.  People may spend time dwelling in the past or worrying about the future but animals know how to be present in the moment.  If they are engaging in an enjoyable activity their entire focus is on that activity.

Pets are also one of many ways to connect with creation. The beauty of nature in all its forms gives us the opportunity to be in awe of the complex and wondrous world in which we live.

Research has finally shown that having a family dog or cat can reduce stress and provide excellent social support along with other health benefits, sometimes more than people.  They can change our mood from negative to positive by a simply glance from those puppy dog eyes, or by a soft furry cat sitting on your lap purring.

There are many articles written about how pets can control blood pressure and improve our overall health. Pets do provide us with unconditional love, companionship and they are good listeners, they won’t give away any of your secrets or tell anyone you had a really bad hair day when you got up this morning.

No matter what type of pet you have, in more ways then you realize they do affect our lives in a positive way.  Isn’t it time we celebrate their spirit?

I think so.

Abby – a Wonderful Dog

Dedicated to Abby Brooks – Rev. Pajos’ best friend

It is not known who replied, to this young girl’s letter – but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abby, died last month.  The day after my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abby.  She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abby got to heaven, God would recognize her.  I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog?  She died yesterday and is with you in heaven.  I miss her very much.  I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her.  She likes to play with balls and to swim.  I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog.  I really miss her.
Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abby and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven.  We put our return address on it.  Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.  That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office.  A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet.  I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand.  Meredith opened it.  Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’  Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope.  On the opposite page was the picture of Abby & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,
Abby arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help.  I recognized Abby right away. Abby isn’t sick anymore.  Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart.  Abby loved being your dog.

Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abby by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me.  What a wonderful mother you have.  I picked her especially for you.  I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.  By the way, I’m easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
Love, God

Scarlett the Cat

October 15, 2008 – Scarlett the cat, whose story of bravery, uncompromising love and triumph over all odds, has passed on.  The heroine calico, who in 1996 made headlines around the world for pulling her five kittens to safety from a raging fire, lost her battle with multiple illnesses this week after living with her adoptive family in Brooklyn, New York for over 12 years.

Back in 1996, Scarlett was tending to her kittens in an abandoned Brooklyn garage when fire broke out.  Having extinguished the blaze, firefighters sighted the mother cat, slowly carrying her four-week-old kittens from the building.  Badly scorched, her ears radically burned, she lined up her babies.  With her eyes blistered from the inferno, she was seen touching each with her nose, to reassure herself that her litter of five had made it to safety.  She then collapsed, unconscious.

Firefighter David Giannelli transported the little feline family to North Shore Animal League America where the mother, who was named Scarlett, and her kittens, were treated.  The weakest kitten died of a virus one month after the blaze.  However, after three months of treatment and recovery, Scarlett and her surviving babies were ready for adoption.

I don’t know how famous this was, but in NYC it was huge.  I think 8 million people shed a tear or two that night.

I Rescued A Human Today

I rescued a human today.  Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering into the kennels.
I knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.
I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.
She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.

I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven’t walked the corridors. So many more to be saved.
At least I could save one. I rescued a human today.

Wilma’s World

Just about 2 years ago, Wilma entered my world. I knew she was homeless, needed food, and also needed to be fixed. I called The Feline Rescue for help. They came to my house with a trap, and we caught Wilma.

She was taken in and neutered; because they were so over run with cats, they asked if they could release her back to my yard. So back she came.

I fed her in the yard, and slowly worked her up onto the front porch. Which is now “Wilma’s World”.  After a year of working with her, I am now able to pat her and pick her up.

She eats, sleeps and plays on the front porch.  Now every morning, I open the door, and she looks in from her world, and I look out from mine. We now know we are friends.

Driving with Penguins
A man was driving down the road with twenty penguins in the back seat. The police stop him and say that he can’t drive around with the penguins in the car and should take them to the zoo. The man agrees and drives off.
The next day the man is driving down the road with twenty penguins in the back. He is stopped by the same police officer who says, “Hey! I thought I told you to take those to the zoo.”
The man replies “I did. Today I’m taking them to the movies.”

Difference between Dogs and Cats

A dog thinks:  Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me…they must be Gods!
A cat thinks:  Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me, and take good care of me…I must be a God!

METAPHYSICAL CLASSES

(Open to the Public)

Licentiate Minister/Life Path Program

Thursday classes are $15 each or both for $25

Or $15 per person and $25 for two.

Thurs. July 21, 7-9pm: Using Runes as a Healing

with Rev. Doti Boon.    UCM Ministerial credits.

How to read, interpret and utilize Runes, and, make your own set.

Since ancient times, runes have been used for divination, magic and as a healing modality. The word “rune” actually means mystery, secret or whisper. Each of the 24 runes has an esoteric meaning and property. These concepts were important to the early peoples who used them to represent the forces of nature and mind. Each rune has a story attached to it and this evening you will learn how to decode their meaning.

Runic alphabets first appeared among Germanic tribes in Central and Eastern Europe. Some rune symbols were acquired from other alphabets, such as the Greek, Etruscan, and Early Roman. The earliest runic inscriptions on stone are dated to the late 3rd century AD, although it is probable that runic alphabets had been in use for some centuries before! Runic inscriptions of great age have been found in North America; supporting stories that Vikings arrived in the Americas long before Columbus.

The various layouts of runes are known as a “spreads” and are not “fortune telling” in the sense that one actually sees the future. Instead, they give a means of analyzing your path and a likely outcome. The future is not fixed. It changes with everything you do. Don’t like the prediction? Change your direction!

Rune readings work best if you detail your current circumstances and ask a specific question. They hint toward answers, but you may have to figure out the details. This is when your intuitive abilities become more involved. As you practice the runes will start to “talk” to you.

This evening you will actually make your own set of runes! Through this experience you will find yourself pulled into the energies of the distant past as Rev. Doti explains how to interpret and read these ancient symbols. If you already have a set or sets – you are encouraged to bring them to class.

Saturday class is $50: Includes a deck of cards, card reading manual and FREE LUNCH!

Sat. July 30, 10am to 5pm: Card Reading – Becoming a Channel with Rev. Doti Boon, the California Psychic.

This workshop will help you become more intuitive, tune into your Spirit Guide – assist others in healing their physical, mental, emotional, financial and spiritual lives.

Learn her method of “reading” a regular deck of cards (not the Tarot). This class will help you become more intuitive, tune into your Spirit Guide – assist others in healing their physical, mental, emotional, financial and spiritual lives. After this class you will be able to amaze your family and friends with your healing gift of prophecy.

For over thirty years Rev. Doti Boon has been using a regular deck of cards to access her connection to MAH – her spiritual guide – and assist thousands of people in finding answers to their most needed life questions. She has also supported herself and her family utilizing this amazing spiritualistic tool! Class includes a deck of cards and instruction book.   UCM ministerial credit

Vol. 10 pg 27 (07-14-11) SUBMISSIONS

AFFIRMATION

I Love and Appreciate All of God‘s Many Faces

Every week I receive a couple of submissions by members of the UCM community. This week I received these three and they truly represent our spirituality.  The first is by an Arabic-American woman, the second a metaphysical look at life and the third is a small boy speaking about Jesus.

Before you know what kindness really is

you must lose things;
feel the future dissolve in a moment

like salt in a weakened broth.
What you held in your hand,

what you counted and carefully saved,
all this must go so you know

how desolate the landscape can be
between the regions of kindness.
How you ride and ride thinking the bus will never stop,
the passengers eating maize and chicken
will stare out the window forever.

Before you learn the tender gravity of kindness,
you must travel where the Indian in a white poncho
lies dead by the side of the road.
You must see how this could be you,
how he too was someone
who journeyed through the night with plans
and the simple breath that kept him alive.

Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,
you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.
You must wake up with sorrow.
You must speak to it till your voice
catches the thread of all sorrows
and you see the size of the cloth.

Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes
and sends you out into the day to mail letters

and purchase bread,
only kindness that raises its head
from the crowd of the world to say
it is I you have been looking for,
and then goes with you every where
like a shadow or a friend.

Time To Take Account of Your Life

Imagine that you had won the following prize in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400.00 in your private account for your use.
However, this prize has rules, just as any game has certain rules. The first set of rules would be: Everything that you didn’t spend during each day would be taken away from you.

You may not simply transfer money into some other account.

You may only spend it.

Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400.00 for that day.

The second set of rules: The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, it’s over, the game is over! It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.
What would you personally do?

You would buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for yourself, but for all people you love, right? Even for people you don’t know, because you couldn’t possibly spend it all on yourself, right? You would try to spend every cent, and use it all, right?
ACTUALLY This GAME is REALITY!
Each of us is in possession of such a magical bank. We just can’t seem to see it.
The MAGICAL BANK is TIME!
Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life, and when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is NOT credited to us.

What we haven’t lived up that day is forever lost.
Yesterday is forever gone.
Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at any time….WITHOUT WARNING.
SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds?
Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars.

Think about that, and always think of this: Enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think.
So take care of yourself, be Happy, Love Deeply and enjoy life!
Here’s wishing you a wonderful and beautiful day.

Start spending.

A Child Explains God!

I certainly don’t think an adult could explain this more beautifully! THIS IS FABULOUS!!!

It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA. He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to ‘explain God.’ I wonder if any of us could have done as well.

One of God’s main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn’t make grownups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn’t have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.’

God’s second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at other times beside bedtime. God doesn’t have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. Because he hears everything, there must be a terrible lot of noise in his ears, unless he has thought of a way to turn it off.’

God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn’t go wasting his time by going over your mom and dad’s head asking for something they said you couldn’t have.’

Atheists are people who don’t believe in God. I don’t think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren’t any who come to our church.’

Jesus is God’s Son. He used to do all the hard work, like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn’t want to learn about God. They finally got tired of him preaching to them and they crucified him. But he was good and kind, like his father, and he told his father that they didn’t know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said O.K.’

His dad (God) appreciated everything that he had done and all his hard work on earth so he told him he didn’t have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven.  So he did.  And now he helps his dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones he can take care of himself without having to bother God.  Like a secretary, only more important.’

You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.’

You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there’s anybody you want to make happy, it’s God!

Don’t skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach.  This is wrong.  And besides, the sun doesn’t come out at the beach until noon anyway.’

If you don’t believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can’t go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can.  It is good to know He’s around you when you’re scared, in the dark or when you can’t swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.’

‘But…you shouldn’t just always think of what God can do for you.  I figure God put me here and he can take me back anytime he pleases.

And…That’s why I believe in God.’

Thurs. July 21, 7-9pm: Using Runes as a Healing

With Rev. Doti Boon

P S from Reverend Clark:

July 10, 2011

Next Monday is July 11th and once again time for our monthly meditation here at the UCM office in Campbell. Everyone is welcome. We begin at 7:30 in the evening. If you cannot join with us in person, please join with us in spirit.

Last evening UCM Reverend Gary Layman presented “An evening with the Master’s” here at the UCM office. As he was leaving he handed me a channeling he had received on June 29th that he had intended to share with the group. He told me I could share it with all of you.

 THE SILENT BODY MEDITATION

I AM John. The Master called me beloved. This was not that He favored me above others, but because I had finally learned and understood the ultimate yet simple truth that He embodied.

The ‘Kingdom Truth’ that He spoke of is the embodied realization of Love’s Omniscient Presence in all things, seen and unseen and when Self Realized, a state of Grace becomes the abiding experience within The Seeker. However, all resistance and attachment to the things of the world must be released in order to cross the threshold and enter the ‘Father’s House’ once again.

This requires silent Surrender and acceptance of a great paradox. When the seeker touches the Silent Presence, the ‘individual’ simultaneously looses the former sense of self and yet gains the Allness of Love’s Presence. Although still embodied, at this moment the Prodigal journey of seeming separation is over and there is no return to the former state of illusion.

It is in this silent realization that the mystery of the so called ‘Body of Christ’ is directly experienced. In this sense, I am not John at all, but only a pixel in the holographic body of ‘HIM’ that doth the work. It is within this state of being that the Master said, ‘I am the Father are One.’

Let us now whisper together … ‘I and the Father are One’ (3x)

MEDITATION

Through my Hearts Breath, I now enter the Secret Place of The Most High
