This coming Saturday (Nov. 5th) we are having a Board Certified Chaplain (Barbara Zahner) come speak to our ministers about “How to Become a Board Certified Chaplain”.

If you have Saturday morning from 10:00 to 1:00 available, I would love to offer this class to you for $25. If you bring a friend – it would be $15. per person.

I have been called upon to sit at the bedside of dying family members and members of our spiritual community – and felt like I needed more training. Maybe you have felt that way also.

Interestingly, when speaking to Ms. Zahner, I found out you don’t have to be a minister to become a chaplain! I am interested to find out more about this and many other things.

If you will be attending – let me know so I can save you a seat.

Blessings,

Doti

 Thanksgiving 2011 Celebration

It is with a sad heart I announce that after 20 years of Thanksgiving at Seacliff Beach we are unable to continue with this amazing tradition.

However, we would love to see all of your smiling faces at the Center for Creative Living for a potluck Thanksgiving feast. Unfortunately you will not be able to bring your doggies to the Center.

We will be opening the doors at 12:30 for folks to arrive with their food contributions, and we plan to eat around 2:00. CCL is equipped with microwave ovens to re-heat food, a refrigerator and freezer to keep things cold and we also have two huge coffee pots for folks who enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea with their meal.

After the feast we will have videos in the library and board games, card games, cribbage board, Scrabble and a Texas Hold-em table for folks to enjoy in the sanctuary.

Our extended family is so fantastic and it would be great to continue seeing all of you for this wonderful day of gratitude.

Blessings,

Doti Boon

UCM Headquarters Updates!

October 21, 2011

From the Desk of Reverend Sandy Clark, President

She said “YES!” was on the subject line of an email I received from the gentleman I wrote about last week that was on his way to propose to his girlfriend. The message included was, “I am engaged,” and thanking me for my support. Again I ask that you send your loving support to this couple as they begin their life together.

I would like to remind everyone that the Joyful Noise Newsletter was created for all of our Charters to be able to let others know what they are doing in their communities. The Newsletter is published each week on the UCM data base by email and also on the UCM Blog. Please be sure to send us what is happening in your neck of the woods.

The UCM Blog is for all of our ministers, students and individuals interested in UCM. We are happy to post happenings in your spiritual communities around the globe. It is our intent that UCM be a beacon of tolerance, diversity and unconditional love. We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to your continued interest and submissions.

Remember you may go onto our blog from our website, www.u-c-m.org and click on the Read our Blog tab. If you have a smart phone or email you may then register for a free subscription to the blog and receive it on your phone or in your email in-box each week.

Affirmation – I am a positive person, always seeing the best in everyone, every action, and every energy on the planet.

“The greatest disease today is not cancer or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted, uncared for and deserted by everybody. The greatest evil is the lack of love and charity.”

~ Mother Teresa

This is reprinted from Vol. 4 Pg. 42, Oct. 21, 2005

In the past few months I have noticed an increasing number of people consumed by negative energies. They seem to feel that the world, the government, their boss, their family, their friends, their bodies and their minds have all turned against them. Sometimes there is a dread that the God energy has withdrawn from them.

More and more of our UCM ministers have been called to preach about “Positive Energy”, “How to Become a Positive Person”, and to remind folks to “…see the glass half full”. It is a challenge to stay grounded and centered, and not become depressed. It feels like everything is falling apart around you, the earth is going through such massive and instantaneous changes, so many people are suffering fear, loss, and, death. Please take a moment to read the following – and put it into action! Remember, you are a perfect person on the planet!

When you find yourself beginning to feel overwhelmed by negativity, you can always choose to break the pattern. Stop whatever you are doing, and for three of four minutes focus your mind on thoughts of gratitude, acceptance and peacefulness.

Breathe deeply, and relax the muscles throughout your body. Reflect on how very fortunate you are to be alive and aware in this universe that’s overflowing with positive possibilities.

Give yourself a peaceful break. Give your spirit the opportunity of resetting to a more positive perspective, and it will.

In a few short moments, you can easily and naturally break free of any negative pattern in which you may have been caught. You’ll be vastly better positioned to effectively respond to whatever life sends your way.

Instead of acting out of anger or frustration, fear or anxiety, you’ll be able to choose your actions based on your own positive purpose. Instead of being caught up in the grip of negativity, you’ll be calmly and firmly in control.

When the negativity starts to get overwhelming, choose to interrupt it with a positive, peaceful break. You’ll find it can make a profound and positive difference. — Ralph Marston

You are so powerful when you stay positive and focused. Make a difference in the world – claim your divinity. You are a child of God! Together we all calmed Hurricane Rita – let’s all get together and do the same with Wilma as it threatens Florida and our Eastern Seaboard. Take a moment to visualize the storm, see and feel the wind speed decreasing from Category 4 to Category 1, NOW! Keep supporting the light-workers on the planet as we reduce this storm, calm the fires, decrease the magnitudes of the earthquakes and help eliminate hunger.

******************

The following is a prayer from “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz:

Thank you, Creator of the Universe, for the gift of life you have given me.

Thank you for giving me everything that I have ever truly needed.

Thank you for the opportunity to experience this beautiful body and this wonderful mind. Thank you for living inside me with all your love, with your pure and boundless spirit, with your warm and radiant light.

Thank you for using my words, for using my eyes, for using my heart to share your love wherever I go. I love you just the way you are, and because I am your creation, I love myself just the way I am. Help me to keep the love and the peace in my heart and to make that love a new way of life, that I may live in love the rest of my life.

Amen

“When you get to your wits end, you’ll find God lives there.”

We are so excited to welcome our own Reverend Virginia Essene D.D., founder of the Share Foundation; a non-profit organization committed to planetary peace and the preservation of all life, through the Love Corps Network communications.

Virginia was guided to write many books and articles. The first book was New Teachings for an Awakening Humanity (messages from Christ Jesus as channeled by Virginia Essene).

She also founded S.E.E. (Spiritual Education Endeavors) Publishing Company which was the publishing arm of the Share Foundation. The following books were edited, authored, or co-authored by Virginia Essene:

NEW TEACHINGS for an AWAKENING HUMANITY, 1994/95 updated edition, The Christ/Virginia Essene
NEW CELLS, NEW BODIES, NEW LIFE! 1991, Virginia Essene, editor
ANNA, GRANDMOTHER OF JESUS, by Claire Heartsong with foreword by Virginia Essene
EARTH, the COSMOS and YOU: Revelations by Archangel Michael, Orpheus Phylos & Virginia Essene
ENERGY BLESSINGS from the STARS, Irving Feurst & Virginia Essene
The HATHOR MATERIAL: MESSAGES from an ASCENDED CIVILIZATION, Tom Kenyon & Virginia Essene

Virginia has had over 35 years of experience in both general and grief areas, and was co-founder of an early hospice program in San Jose, CA before the European practice of hospice became part of the American medical model.

Under her married name (Venice Ostwald) she has been honored in five biographical dictionaries—most recently in the 2007 Who’s Who in America. In John Klimo’s book Channeling: Investigations on Receiving Information on Paranormal Sources he states: “This is a rather beautiful and compelling case of Christ as the purported source in New Teachings for Awakening Humanity, a book by Virginia Essene.

In addition to her own counseling abilities, in 1986 Virginia was asked by Jesus/Jeshua to begin doing what he called “soul readings” for people who had read his New Teachings for an Awakening Humanity book and/or were now ready to explore their sacred nature and life purposes.

And there is much more that she is responsible for and has accomplished in this life time. This Sunday she will share with us information received from her guides about astronomy and astrological happenings which will directly affect each of us right now and in the near future.

You really don’t want to miss this. This Sunday, October 23, 2011, service starts at 10:00am, she will start her talk about 10:30 or so. If you can’t make it order the CD, but being there in person is so much more rewarding.

See you in Church.

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

The Courage to Question

by Adyashanti

Spiritual seekers are some of the most superstitious people on the planet. Most people come to spiritual teachers and teachings with a host of hidden beliefs, ideas, and assumptions they unconsciously seek to be confirmed. And if they are willing to question these beliefs, they almost always replace old concepts with new, more spiritual ones, thinking these new concepts are far more real than the old ones.

Even those who have had deep spiritual experiences and awakenings beyond the mind will in most cases continue to cling to superstitious ideas and beliefs in an unconscious effort to grasp for the security of the known, the accepted, or the expected. It is this grasping for security in all its inward and outward forms which limits the perspective of enlightenment and maintains an inwardly divided condition which is the cause of all suffering and confusion.

You must want to know the truth more than you want to feel secure in order to fully awaken to the fact that you are nothing but Awakeness itself.

Shortly after I began teaching, I noticed that almost everyone coming to see me held a tremendous number of superstitious ideas and beliefs that were distorting their perceptions and limiting their scope of spiritual inquiry. What was most surprising was that in almost all cases, even those who had deep and profound experiences of spiritual awakening continued to hold onto superstitious ideas and beliefs which severally limited the depth of experience and expression of true awakening.

Over time I began to see how delicate and challenging it was for most seekers to find the courage to question any and all ideas and beliefs about the true nature of themselves, the world, others, and even enlightenment itself. In almost every person, every religion, every group, every teaching and every teacher, there are ideas, beliefs, and assumptions that are overtly or covertly not open to question. Often these unquestioned beliefs hide superstitions which are protecting something which is untrue, contradictory, or being used as justification for behavior which is a less than enlightened.

The challenge of enlightenment is not simply to glimpse the awakened condition, nor even to continually experience it, but to be and express it as yourself in the way you move in this world. In order to do this, you must come out of hiding behind any superstitious beliefs and find the courage to question everything; otherwise you will continue to hold onto superstitions which distort your perception and expression of that which is only ever awake.

“Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can.”

~ John Wesley

On a Lighter Note:

There’s an old sea story in the Navy about a ship’s captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the chief bosun’s mate that his men smelled bad.

The captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change their underwear occasionally.

The chief responded, “Aye, aye sir, I’ll see to it immediately!”

The chief went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, “The captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear. “Pittman, you change with Jones; McCarthy, you change with Witkowski; and Brown, you change with Schultz. Now get to it!!!”

THE MORAL: Someone may be promising “Change”; but don’t count on things smelling any better!”

___________

Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations on November 10, 1995.

Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.

Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: This is the Aircraft Carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States’ Atlantic Fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruises, and numerous support vessels. I demand that you change your course 15 degrees north, that’s one five degrees north, or counter-measures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

October 13, 2011

I was in Southern California last weekend, and coming back on the airplane a young man sat beside me and in our conversation I asked if he was traveling home, or coming to the area on business. He smiled at me and said, “I’m going to propose to my girlfriend. It’s a surprise she doesn’t know I’m coming. Her aunt is having a family party, and she knows I’m coming, however no one else does. My parents are picking me up at the airport and then we’re all going to the party. After the surprise of my being there I plan to propose in front of everyone!” He did say that his girlfriend had told him she wanted a surprise proposal, sounds like she got one! I did ask him to send me an email and let me know how everything went, but I have not heard anything so far. Turns out he also is a minister. From my heart I wish these two a wonderful and joyous life together.

This coming Sunday the fascinating Victoria Rue, Div., Ph.D WomanPriest of the Roman Catholic Church will be telling her story: “Female Journey to Priesthood and Vatican Concerns.” Although the Catholic Church refuses to ordain woman priests, a group of women defied the order back in 2002, when seven were ordained in Germany by two Catholic bishops. Since then a movement to ordain women as Roman Catholic priests has gone international, as women ordained other women and created a wide network of “Roman Catholic Womenpriests,” as the movement calls itself.

Victoria Rue, M. Div., Ph.D., one such woman, a Roman Catholic WomanPriest, will be speaking at Sunday Celebration on Sunday October 16th. She will be telling her journey and the reaction of the movement for women priests and more. If you are interested in looking at this new movement – go to her web site: www.victoriarue.com. It is amazing how many women and some men are becoming Roman Catholic priests outside of the Vatican.

Jules Hart’s Award Winning Film “Pink Smoke Over the Vatican” is the story of the global movement for women priests in the Roman Catholic Church.
