Saturn Opposite Uranus

September 25, 2009

Elizabeth Barton Astrology“The old in conflict with the new”

Major aspects for September 2009:

Pluto in Capricorn went direct on September 11th.

Mercury in Libra went retrograde on the 7th-28th of September.

Saturn, Uranus opposition – all of September 2-degree orb max. Exact 13th -19th

Hello Dear UCM members and guests to our website!

Wow!  Astrologically this September is a fulcrum point of change.  The cauldron (Pluto) is being stirred in an anticlockwise manner (Mercury retrograde).  The old stuff (Saturn) at the bottom is come to the top and the new ingredients (Uranus) on the surface are going down!  EVERYONE is going through major change!!!  Old patterns are challenged by new patterns that seem to be” out of your control”.  This is a time of life changing decisions.

Let’s look at some stats first:

Saturn in Virgo is exactly opposite Uranus in Pisces on September 15th at 5:50 pm PST.  This is the third of five exact oppositions involving these two planets.

Saturn entered Virgo on September 2nd 2007 – exits into Libra for good on July 22 2010.

Saturn will be in Libra from Oct 30th 2009 to April 8th 2010; then it retrogrades back into Virgo until July 22 2010. Saturn is exalted in Libra. It really likes it there!

Uranus has a longer stay in Pisces.  It went into Pisces on March 11 2003, retrograded a bit from mid September to December 30, 2003.  And it leaves Pisces on May 29, 2010; going into Aries.

An opposition means two planets; personal points and or other parts of a chart are 180 degrees apart.

Oppositions will always have compatible elements.

Virgo is an Earth sign and Pisces is a Water sign.  Earth and water like each other, as Air and Fire like each other.

So even if two Planets are in opposition, there is the fulcrum point and the possibility of compromise.

(For you astrologers out there, I am not talking about orbs here).

The last time these two planets were in opposition was in the mid 1960’s.  Saturn was in Pisces and Uranus was in Virgo

This started on March 25th 1964, ending with Saturn going into Aries on March 4th, 1967…Uranus was also conjoined with Pluto at the time! Yipes!  What a time the 60’s were!  Major social change!

This was the time when President Lyndon Johnston brought the Great Society goals and the civil right act into being.  His speech was on May 22 1964, Saturn was at 4 degrees of Pisces and Uranus (stationary direct) was at 5 degree of Virgo. One degree from exact!

This was the time Social Security and Medicare came into existence; 1965.

This was a time when discrimination was challenged, when public broadcasting was born, there were major changes in the Federal funding of schools…so many wonderful things started out of the cauldron of that time.  But it was tumultuous.

Go to  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Society to read more.

So what you may ask is in store for us as a society?

First lets go over some keywords for Saturn

Esoterically Saturn is the first energy the Soul encounters as it moves into the Earth realm to be born.

Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn and Aquarius……(Uranus is the co-ruler for Aquarius)

Hers are some things Saturn rules;

Matter

Form

Karma

Old ways and things

Coal mines

Collapse of buildings

Bones, skin, hair teeth

Right ear

Grandfathers

Fathers

Lead

Clowns

Stones

Suspicion

Willow tree

Black

Crystals

Rocks

Righteousness

Boundaries

Restriction

Patience

Hard work rewarded

As you sow so shall you reap

Here are some of the Key words associated with Uranus.

In esoteric astrology Uranus is called the higher octave of Mercury.

Inventiveness

As a society we are taking the next step with the all the things birthed during the last Saturn/Uranus opposition, Health care, education, Federal funding of public “anything”.

The healthcare battle probably will not come to a compromise until the last opposition inVirgo/Pisces, May 01 2020.

There will be major break through, discoveries and governmental policy shifts in;

Food production and distribution

Medicines

Artificial skin, bones, teeth and hair

Gene manipulation

Nanotech, lasers

Scientific procedures

Mathematics

The understanding of water and its sacred relationship to our bodies and the Earth.

One thing I find interesting is this time it is the Saturn in Virgo people doing the marches on Washington, protesting the implementation of a public option in the health care plan for all people.

Since last April 2009, there has also been a very interesting combo affecting everyone, especially Lightworkers.

The planets Jupiter (Money in traditional astrology), Neptune (Maya, Spirit and confusion), and the asteroid  (really a captured comet) Chiron (The healer/teacher) and the North Node of the Moon (What we are to do in this life), have all been playing tag in Aquarius (the People/friends).  This influence will stay in effect until Jan 2010.

Here are some of the major themes coming out of this combo.

How many of you are going through a spiritual crisis, doubting your connection with the Divine.

How many of you are learning the power of your “divine self” through lack of, and removal of material things?

How many of you are calling your guides and they aren’t answering or are all business.

How many of you are finding what used to work metaphysically is not as strong or is not working at all!

How many of you have had incredible insight and new channeling ability out of the blue?

Some of the quotes I have heard:

“I feel like I am in two dimensions at the same time.”

“But I don’t want to leave my home and move!”

“I thought I was over the hard stuff”

“Why is my security being removed, I’m dong the Divine work?”

“Why are my friends moving away and changing so much…. why are they dying”???

“Can I renegotiate my contract”?

In the military, after boot camp comes Advanced Individual Training.  After the Pluto went direct in Capricorn that is what is in play now.

The lightworkers we trained with are shipping away to the next learning arena.  Some people stay with us, others drop out completely, others are dying and working on the other side.

Those of us who came on to this planet with a spiritual contract to do lightwork during the 2012 Energetic shift, are now out of “Bootcamp”, and are now being moved into position for the “Work” that starts when a variety of the Cardinal T-Squares  and Cardinal Crosses starts activating in May 2010.

Remember that the “Temple of the Divine” is within you!   Meditate on the Divine Temple within, listen to your inner voice; this is one way to graciously maneuver these trying times!   This is a key to riding the waves of change that are crashing on our lives.

Also stay in touch with others!  One of the ways the Dark side likes to attacks us is by feeding our depression, then isolating us.  The old “divide and conquer” technique.

Go dust off your Psychic armor and sharpen your sword of Love!    Peace and Love to you all!

More on that in another blog about the Cardinal Cross.

PS.  I am facilitating a three-day, two night Women’s Goddess retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains, Oct 30th-Nov 1st, 2009.

We will be in circle doing Candle Magick and Scrying for our Divine Path in this life.  I have chosen to do Scrying (Crystal gazing) because the veil between the worlds is thinnest during this time of year.

The retreat is on Magical mountaintop!  Hiking trails, wood fire stoves, hot tub, some old growth Redwoods! You can see the stars!
All meals are included. The price is $250.00.  I have five spaces left.

AFFIRMATION

I appreciate all the religions and people of the world

When you enter the Center for Creative Living – you notice the flags of 22 different religions on the wall – none higher, brighter or more outstanding than the other. Then as you become comfortable in your chair – you notice the altar. There is a statue of Buddha with small children gathered around, a large silver cross made in Palenque and a wooden figure of Christ the Redeemer. As you look closely – you see a black goddess holding flowers in her hand, a bronze statue of Ganeesh, a large figure of Isis, a few angels and many candles. The Star of David is quite prominent as is another Buddha – a black one – looking like Buddha in a feminine form. Depending on the occasion, there may be American flags, Gay flags, flags from various wars, Mother Earth and Peace flags. But the best of all are the freshly cut flowers in many different vases representing the different hues, colors and religions of all who attend here.

Here at CCL we consider ourselves a Multi-Faith church – welcoming all religions, philosophies and conversations as the voices of a Mother/Father God.

Why so many religions? We feel that truth cannot be confined to any single path and that God’s beauty and glory is demonstrated in many incarnations beyond the ones called Jesus the Christ, Mohammad or The Buddha.

In North America we daily live and work alongside people of different ethnic and racial groups. And we are more and more coming into contact with religions of the world embodied in human faces and next-door-neighbor families. This loving relationship, between the world’s religions is here.

In all the religious traditions of the world, love of neighbor has been a necessary objective. The point is that we love our neighbor; and our neighbor is whomever God sets in our path, who ever we meet along our way. Inter-Faith cooperation and dialogue must begin with us. What we do now with respect to the growing religious communities will have consequences for our future.

The goal of Inter-Faith dialogue is not to point out the faults of the other community. We need more discussion with acknowledgment of the suffering inflicted on one another, and accepting appropriate responsibility for the mistakes of the past; whether it is the torture of witches, the toleration of rape, mutilation and flogging in some sanctioned “holy wars” or the relegation of millions to the position of outcasts in the name of God!

God can be a powerful force for good! The majority of the world’s people are deeply religious and various spiritual traditions have a role in providing the belief, systems and worldview within which we act out or

lives.

“We the people of earth, need the help and involvement of our spiritual leaders. It is from our respective faiths that we derive our sense of origins, of self, of purpose, of possibility. You are our source of inspiration for what we humans and earth can become. Your dreams are our visions – and our destiny.” As was said in A Letter to Our Spiritual Leaders, members of the U. N. – written by Gerald O. Barney.

There is a big mix out there, and there’s lots of different things going on, and there is not one way that was intended to be the right way. Just like there’s not one color or one flower or one vegetable or one fingerprint. There is not one that is to be the right one over all others. The variety is what fosters the creativity. And so you say, “Okay, I accept that there’s lots of variety, but I don’t like to eat cucumbers.” Don’t eat cucumbers. But don’t ask them to be eliminated and don’t condemn those who eat them. Don’t ruin your life by pushing against. Instead, say, “I choose this instead. This does please me.”—Abraham

If God dropped acid, would he see people? — George Carlin

A minister in Florida lamented that it was difficult to get his message across to his congregation. “It’s so beautiful here in the winter,” he said, “that heaven doesn’t interest them. And it’s so hot here in the summer that hell doesn’t scare them.”

Did you know – life expectancy for non-church goers is 75 and for weekly churchgoers it is 82 and for people who attend more than once a week it is 83 years. USA Today

“It is extremely important that we all extend our understanding of each other’s spiritual practices and traditions, because to do so increases our opportunities for mutual respect. Sometimes, too, we encounter something in another tradition that helps us better appreciate something in our own.”

Mercury Retrograde in Libra- September 7th – 28th 2009

September 18, 2009

What is Mercury retrograde?”, you may ask.

By Elizabeth Barton

Every four months, Mercury stops and turns retrograde for approximately 22 days.  The retrograde cycles occur in zodiacal order, by element.  (There are four elements in astrology – Air, Fire, Water and Earth.)

This year the first three Mercury retrogrades cycles are in Air signs (intellectual ability, including communication and social interaction.)  The fourth and last one is on December 26th at 21 degrees of Capricorn.

The planet Mercury does not go backwards in the sky, it just looks like it does. A simplified astronomical explanation would be; when a planet moves around the Sun and “catches up” with, and passes the Earth, that planet looks like it is moving backwards.  Have you ever been in a car and felt like you were going backwards as another car passed yours?  Basically it is the same effect.

When Mercury is retrograde it is the closest to the planet, thereby activating Mercurial themes.

Mercury is the planet that represents the ability to think, what occupies the mind, language, writing, Magick, the Hermetic Arts, and all forms of communication.

But it is also a trickster planet and during the retrograde period, even if you thought you understood what was said, ask again!

Mercury retrograde is a great time to finish projects that have been sitting in the garage….or cleaning the garage, to finish that short story or to dream a new idea into this reality.

It is a good time to review, re-do, recalibrate, rethink, revise, rewrite…..any word that has “re”, is applicable ….. and does well here.

“Re”laying messages; Speaking for those who can’t speak or voice their opinion…including our furry brethren!

“Re”minding our politicians who they work for!

Classically, “what not to do” or to “avoid if possible” during Mercury retrograde:

  1. signing  contracts

  2. Initializing or finalize projects

  3. surgery

  4. repairs

  5. travel

But life does not stop when Mercury is retrograde.  Some people have to sign documents.  If you must…..triple check the documents. Ask lots of questions.

Some people need to travel, so travel with carry on luggage only and expect delays.

Get second opinions about surgery and be diligent with check ups.   Be your own advocate!

Double check the quality of repair job before paying.

It is now a tradition not to buy electronic goods during this time.  It does seem that equipment purchased whilst Mercury is retrograde does have a higher need for repair and resetting.

You can look back at the earlier retrograde cycles of this year and see what was affected in your life.

“What will be the main theme for Mercury retrograde in Libra?” you ask?

Libra occupies the 7th house of the natural chart in Western astrology. The, “natural chart”, means that Aries, (Spring Equinox), is always on the first house cusp.

The 7th house represents relationships, marriage, and partnerships of all kinds, including business.

Yup, you got it; reevaluating and reflecting on personal relationships, being in integrity when judging others, and as well as the weighing and balancing of responsibilities to others.  All of this will be up for “Re”-view.

Mercury goes stationary on the 3rd of September at 6 degrees of Libra, staying on this degree until the 9th of September; technically goes stationary retrograde on the 7th

Mercury continues its backward motion, going into Virgo on the 17th of September.

It stops its descent and goes stationary at 22 degrees of Virgo on September 26, where it stays until October 1st.  But again it technically goes stationary direct on the 29th of September.

There is a period prior and after the retrograde cycle called the “shadow period.”, usually it is two weeks.  This is when you start to feel the first tests of the cycle.

Taking this into consideration, the entire month of September is under the influence of Mercury retrograde!

Any person with major planets or personal points (PP’s), like the ascendant or Mid Heaven, at these degrees; 0 to 9 Libra and 19 to 30 Virgo will be the ones predominantly effected by this retrograde cycle.

A special ‘heads up’ to those of you with planets and PP’s at 6 Libra and 22 Virgo!

The three degrees on either side of the given spectrum is called an “Orb”.  Basically that is like the planets aura, it still has an effect even though it is not conjoining the 6th degree of Libra or the 22nd degree of Virgo.

“Is Mercury Retrograde bad?”

This is a question I am always asked.  The answer is “No”! Mercury retrograde brings awareness, painful at times, but awareness.  If you figure out what is affected in your life and you do the work, it usually comes out alright.

One caveat….even if you do the work but you are living or working with someone who doesn’t, you may get caught in the energetics of their “stuff”.

Things for you to find out:

  1. Do you have planets from 19 – 30 Virgo or 0 – 9 Libra?
  2. Where does Libra live in your chart? What house?
  3. Since Libra is ruled by Venus, look to see what is happening to your natal Venus and what transiting Venus is doing in your chart.
  4. What is the ruler of your 7th house? What is aspecting it?.

I hope this has helped you understand Mercury retrograde a little more!

Prayer Altar at Headquarters

All is very peaceful and serene on our patio: the fountain sends its music with the water, the hummingbird checks out our hibiscus plant every day, and the geraniums along with the ferns fill in with their loving energy. I often look out my window to all of this as I send out our prayer requests. With the addition of new readers to the Joyful Noise I wanted to be sure everyone knows how to request prayer and how your requests are then handled.

Prayer requests can be called in to our office at 408.370.6519; emailed to us: staff@u-c-m.org; or sent via our link on our website under Prayer Requests. We have 135 prayer partners who subscribe to our prayer requests list that is emailed daily, combining requests received that day that give us permission to send them. Some people prefer just to have their requests added to our prayer bowl and not have their names/requests out over the Internet. A copy of each day’s prayer requests email is also put in our prayer bowl.

Prayer Requests may also be submitted on our blog by going to our website, www.u-c-m.org, and selecting “Read Our Blog”, and then selecting “Prayer Requests”. Requests made here are visible to whoever connects to our website.

In the world of shamanism this is another vehicle to influence and take control of your life. The major benefit of this is that everything that happens in the dream world happens extremely rapidly and without the limitations of your critical, waking mind.

Join us and receive an initiation that will facilitate your entrance into Moemoea, the Hawaiian Dream Time. You’ll hear the story of the mystical Alaneo, and listen as the Dream Time chant assists you in entering non-ordinary reality or “the dream world.”

Additionally, you’ll receive information to guide you on this journey in the future and make this a part of your life. If you just want to come along for the ride and enjoy a different type of meditation, that’s fine too.

AFFIRMATION

I live my life with love and spiritual energy!

It feels like everyone has been celebrating birthdays. My Virgo friends were out in restaurants, gathered at the Center giving me a surprise party, going to folks’ homes, watching movies in groups – all in the joy of having a good time with family and friends. and being

I was invited to parties and bought cards and gifts for many, including my grandson Tanner, my great nieces Drake and Thyme, dear friends and loads of UCM ministers.

As I wrote “Love and Light” on each card – I realized how much I appreciate and do love the family and friends in my life. Some friends I have known and loved for over 50 years and others for a few months. And, being Virgos like myself – they are all amazing, creative and gifted people – and just maybe a little over organized and critical like myself – but that makes them even more special!

I spent four weeks celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and new births. I was truly celebrating the lives of friends and people I admired and appreciate. Each event was a gift to a special person and I was gifted in return by their love.

When I shared this with a friend of mine he asked, “why do you do all of this?” He admitted he had never bought someone a card or gift. His life was lacking in friends and he didn’t talk to his family. He was very sad and lonely – and yet afraid to reach out with a card, a call or even a hug. And I fully realized that to live life you must love life. And when you love life and all it has to offer – Life will love you back! Try it – it Works! Just read what the following authors have to say!

An Old Prospector

Submitted by Susan Moon (a Virgo friend)

An old prospector shuffled into town leading a tired old mule and headed straight for the bar to wet his parched throat. He walked up to the saloon and tied his mule to the hitching rail. As he stood there brushing dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

The gunslinger laughed, saying, ‘Hey old man, have you ever danced?’ The old man looked up and said, ‘No, I never did dance, –I just never wanted to.’ As a crowd gathered quickly the gunslinger grinned and said, ‘Well, you old fool, you’re gonna’ dance now,’ and started shooting at his feet. The old prospector was soon hopping around like a flea on a hot skillet and everybody was laughing.

When his last bullet had been fired the young gunslinger, started into the saloon. The old man pulled out a double barreled shotgun from his pack and cocked both hammers and the loud, audible double clicks carried through the desert air. The crowd stopped laughing. The gunslinger heard the sounds, and turned around slowly. The crowd watched as the young man stared at the old timer and the large holes of those twin barrels.

The old man said, ‘Son, did you ever kiss a mule’s behind?’ The young bully swallowed hard and said, ‘No Sir. But I’ve truly always wanted to.’

There are two lessons for us all here:

1. Don’t waste ammunition.
2. Don’t mess with old people.

UCM Education Program

September 13, 2009

A Note to Perspective Students.

christmas2003 017I am the Dean of the Seminary and VP of the UCM board of Trustees, and I am a volunteer.  My work is to mentor the students that participate in our Theology Degree Program. Most people groan when you say graduate and undergraduate work. This program is different! UCM has been in existence since 1908. Our Founder Reverend Briggs was apart of the Spiritualist Community.

I am happy to say from the very beginning UCM honored all cultures and paths to personal enlightenment, as long as there was no harm, and that our first ministers were men and women. To this day we are truly a community of practitioners from many cultures, American Indian, Hindu, Buddhist, Pagan, Christian, Jewish and many more.

Originally we taught only through our Life Path Program. An individual studied directly with a UCM Ordained minister for a minimum of two years to become an Ordained Minister. The student picked the teacher that expressed either their philosophy or one they wanted to learn. As the need for a more structured model began to express itself we developed the Remote Theology Degree Program. The development began in 1992 and we happily completed the Doctor of Divinity part of the Graduate Program by 2008 our 100-year celebration.

Though the original intent of the degree program was to offer an accredited graduate and undergraduate program for individuals interested in becoming UCM ministers we are finding that a lot of people are participating because they are becoming more in tuned to their personal spiritual path through these studies. As we developed this program we focused on creating a personal vision quest by which each student learned more with regards to themselves. We even have some individuals who travel for their corporate jobs that have said this has helped them understand the different cultures they interface with.

For those who find this interesting they can get further information about our educational programs, our blog, magazine and who we are at http://www.u-c-m.org./
