AFFIRMATION

I am a peaceful being teaching Peace!

          In our wonderful metaphysical congregation there are those who pray for peace, many who are willing to fight for peace, some who espouse peace, and a few that are at peace in their everyday life, manner and spirit. World peace will come when everyone can walk in peace and in their example teach peace to everyone they meet.

          What does it take to be peaceful inside? How do you achieve a peaceful demeanor, presence and form? The best way is to release all judgment of people, let go of all anger, frustration and disappointment with yourself and others. Peace is inevitable when you offer peace to everyone. This peaceful mind must join with other minds, for that is how peace is obtained!

          Don’t you think the world – the entire world needs peace as much as you do?  Giving peace to the world means breathing out peace with every exhalation! Only in giving it will you receive it back. When you have accepted this mission to breathe out peace, you will find peace in all that you are.

          “I want the Peace of God,” as quoted from A Course in Miracles is easy to say. But, to act upon these words is everything!

          Just remember that you came into this incarnation as a peaceful being with the intent of bringing the peace of God to the world. Peace is the condition of truth and sanity – and cannot be brought about on the wings of destruction, in the whispers of self-doubt or on the lips of gossiping name callers. The only way to have peace – is to be unconditionally loving of all beings – teaching peace with every word you say and every act you perform.

There was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical.

After serving his company loyally for over 30 years, he happily retired.

          Several years later, the company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem they were having with one of their multi-million dollar machines. They had tried everything and everyone to get the machine fixed, but to no avail. In desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of their problems in the past.

          The engineer reluctantly took the challenge. He spent a day studying the huge machine. At the end of the day, he marked a small “x” in chalk on a particular component of the machine and proudly stated, “This is where your problem is.”

          The part was replaced and the machine worked perfectly again. The company received a bill for $50,000 from the engineer for his services. They demanded an itemized accounting of his charges.

The engineer responded:

One chalk mark . . . . . . . . . . . . . $1
Knowing where to put it . . . . . . . $49,999

AFFIRMATION

I am my favorite Valentine!

          There are so many things written about Valentine’s Day and the disappointment, heartache and frustration of not receiving something from “Your Valentine” that I thought I would write about YOU being Your Own Valentine.

          If you’re gazing enviously at the bouquet of roses on your colleague’s desk this Valentine’s Day, remember there’s a chance they’re not from a secret admirer or even a significant other. They may just have sent them to themselves.

                Rather than feeling lonely and unloved on February 14th, eight million Americans admit to sending themselves gifts, according to a new survey. And at least those sending themselves a gift know that they’ll like what they get.

          A telephone poll of 1,000 Americans also found there’s a big mismatch between what people wanted and what they got and so people were filling the void by buying for themselves.

          Vince Talbert, of the marketing technology company Bill Me Later Inc, conducted the poll with Ipsos Insight.

            Here is an interesting writing by an anonymous source that let’s you know how very special you are and how much you deserve your Own Valentine:

I’m Special

          I’m special! In the entire world there’s nobody like me. Since the beginning of time, there has never been another person like me. Nobody has my smile. Nobody has my eyes, my nose, my hair, my hands, and my voice.

I’m Special

          No one can be found who has my handwriting. Nobody anywhere has my tastes – for food or music or art. No one sees things just as I do.

                In all of time there’s been no one who laughs like me, no one who cries like me. And what makes me laugh and cry will never provoke identical laughter and tears from anybody else, ever.

                No one reacts to any situation just as I would react.

I’m Special

          I’m the only one in all of creation who has my set of abilities. Oh, there will always be somebody who is better at one of the things I’m good at, but no one in the universe can reach the quality of my combination of talents, ideas, abilities and feelings. Like a room full of musical instruments, some may excel alone, but none can match the symphony sound when all are played together.

I’m a Symphony

          Through all of eternity no one will ever look, talk, walk, think, or do like me.

I’m special. I’m rare

          In all rarity there is great value. Because of my great rare value, I need not attempt to imitate others. I will accept – yes.

Celebrate – my Differences

          I’m special. And I’m beginning to realize it’s no accident that I’m special. I’m beginning to see that God made me special for a very special purpose. God must have a job for me that no one else can do as well as I. Out of all the billions of applicants; only one has the right combination of what it takes. That one is me.

I’M MY OWN VALENTINE – BECAUSE – I’M SPECIAL!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Life is exhilarating and you have to plunge into it and dive through it with compassion and an open heart. I encourage you to strive to reach out to everyone you meet with a warm heart and respect.
          Begin your day with thankfulness for our beautiful world, and for the joy of sharing our gifts and our lives with one another. That is the purpose of life!
          It was Valentine’s Day and Jim and Danielle’s first date. They sat in the darkened cinema waiting for the film to start. The screen finally lit up with a flashy advertisement for the cinema’s concession stand. Jim and Danielle realized that there was no sound. The film began but the silence continued.
          Suddenly, out of the darkness, an irritated voice in the crowd loudly shouted’, Okay, who’s got the remote control?’
          Phil, a smart and handsome young man, dressed in the latest fashion, walked into this local pub. He noticed a woman gazing at him without blinking her big eyes. Phil felt flattered so he walked up to the woman and said in his deepest voice, ‘I’ll do anything you wish, beautiful lady, for just $20 but on one condition.’
          The woman appeared to be trapped in the moment and asked as if in a trance, ‘What’s your condition?’
          Phil answered, ‘Tell me your wish in just three words.’
          There was a long pause, the woman opened her purse, counted out the money and handed it to the man along with her address. She then looked deeply into his eyes and whispered, ‘Clean my house.’
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
          Jim asked his friend, Tony, whether he had bought his wife anything for Valentine’s Day.
          “Yes,” came the answer from Tony who was a bit of a chauvinist, “I’ve bought her a belt and a bag.”
          “That was very kind of you,” Jim added, “I hope she appreciated the thought.” Tony smiled as he replied, “So do I, and hopefully the vacuum cleaner will work better now.”
          Roger, who was 19 years old, was buying an expensive bracelet, to surprise his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day, at a very smart jeweler’s shop in Hatton Garden, London.
          The jeweler inquired, “Would you like your girlfriend’s name engraved on it?”
          Roger thought for a moment, grinned, then answered, “No, instead engrave To my one and only love.”
          The jeweler smiled and said, “Yes, sir; how very romantic of you.”
          Roger retorted with a glint in his eye, “Not exactly romantic, but very practical. This way, if we break up, I can use it again.”
VALENTINE’S DAY:
Love is in the air!  Valentine’s Day will be extra romantic this year.  It falls on a Sunday with the Moon in Pisces, Sun conjoining Neptune and Venus sextile Pluto!
Oh my!  Move over Fabio
On the good side of this combination there will be lots of passionate gazing into each others eyes over sumptuous desserts.  There will be an almost mystical union between lovers.  Being in love with love and not seeing the real person is a major factor with this Neptune.
Lots of couples will take in a show or movie as well as going to dinner.  Or they will go for picnics by a body of water.  Some will chose to stay home, order in food, watch romantic movies then dress up as their favorite fantasy and have…..fun!  Very sweet energy!
On the dark side….and there is always a dark side, we have the martyr energy of Pisces sniveling about how they are never appreciated, that daisies are not the roses they deserve.
Also the potential for over drinking is huge!
Women watch your drinks!  Some of the bad boys will attempt to put drugs in them, especially around 11:00pm.  Pluto’s Energy with Venus, for pro or con, is strongest in the late evening.
This is a great Valentine’s Day to re spark the fire in your relationship.  Get out your candles, romantic music and the long forgotten ground hog costume,….What???? Hamster costume???…..No way!…….French maid costume????? OK!
Whatever!  Enjoy your partner!
Ps.  There is a hotel in France where all the rooms have hamster wheels and the guests dress up as….you got it….hamsters.  A tidbit I learned from the National Public Radio show, “Wait, wait, don’t tell me.”…..honest!
NOTE:
Last month I talked about major Earthquakes off the west coast of the America’s. In San Francisco on January 7th we had a 4.1 quake.  Off the coast in Eureka on January 10th, there was a 6.5 that caused property damage; followed by a 5.9 on February 4th.  There were several 4.0 and above in South America.  See link for more details.
AFFIRMATION
I am a Winner in Life! I Play for God’s Team!
          Have you ever wondered how to become a “Winner?” You need to look at life much as an athlete trains; by repeatedly “exercising” all the muscles that need to get your body in its best condition. To become a spiritual winner you need to repeatedly think in a positive way.
          You must start with visualization. All things are first pictured in one’s mind and manifested through the law of the mind; whether shooting a basket, throwing a touchdown, hitting a tennis ball or being in harmony with the infinite mind of God.
          You must learn to visualize one step at a time. With practice, your feet learn to walk, then run. Remember, the same feet that stumble while learning to walk and run can be taught the most difficult dance steps. So, start simple and as you progress, you will be able to go into deeper meditations and affirmations and learn the many ways to become a spiritual winner.
          The coach doesn’t teach someone how to “not catch the ball.” They teach concentration on the ball. They teach visualizing the goal and the best way to get there. This mental discipline in all things is found in patient and persistent practice. In fact, it has been proven that a team that practices visualizing winning a game (even if they are not on the court or field) does better than a team that half-heartedly plays the game in a sports arena.
The spiritual warrior should start with learning to concentrate on the things they want and not on the things they don’t want! A well worn but true saying is “As a man thinketh, so is he.” How many of us realize how important these seven words are? Yet, they are a powerful formula for spiritual unfoldment and for life itself!
Winning means doing daily exercises and training your muscles so you don’t even have to think about how you will respond.  You just do it automatically to a given stimulus. That is the same way you develop your conscious and subconscious mind to cooperate in complete balance with your superconsciousness…”God.” Daily exercises such as prayer, meditation, affirmations and visualizations train and develop your spiritual mind.
When you absolutely know you are one with God, and can say, “the all powerful God is one with me.” You have become a winner in life. Repeat this daily; build up the repetitions it takes to make you a spiritual winner!
You Can Win
Author Unknown
If You deem yourself a failure,
Then the world adopts your view,
If you bury all your talents,
Who will mourn their loss but you?
If you class yourself with weaklings
Surely none will say you, “Nay.”
Thinking you have found your level,
There the world will let you stay.
Don’t expect the world to tell you
Of your station and your worth.
Who should better know your value
Than yourself, of all the earth?
Stop lamenting and repining
If the world has used you ill.
You’ve a place among the useful;
You can find it, if you will.
If you’ll face the world with courage,
Then you’ll find a helping hand.
Take a place among the foremost.
They’ll allow you room to stand.
Those who struggle, wear the garlands,
Only cowards sit and sigh.
In the din of life’s great battles
Those who win are those who try.
          Winning or losing is up to you. You will win if you truly want to do so. You must put forth the effort. The greatest battle you will have now is with yourself or in finding your “Real Self.” The false sense of self lies where your battle starts. You will not lose your individuality, but you will lose the false concept you have had of yourself.
“Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all of your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.”
When I was a kid, mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. I remember one night when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work.
My mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I wanted to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for a biscuit, smile at mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don’t remember what I told him, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!
When I got up from the table mom apologized to dad for burning the biscuits. And he said: “Honey, I love burned biscuits.”
Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned.
He wrapped me in his arms and said,
“Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she’s real tired. And besides – a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!”
And that’s my prayer for you today. That you learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of God. Because in the end, God’s the only One who will be able to give you a relationship, whether with yourself or another, where a burnt biscuit isn’t a deal-breaker!
          Adam bit the apple and feeling great shame, covered himself with a fig leaf. Eve, too felt shame and covered herself with a fig leaf.
          Then she went behind the bush to try on a maple leaf, a sycamore, and an oak.
          At day care, Mitchell and the other children drew names for a gift exchange. When he got home, he asked his mother to read him the piece of paper. “It says that you got Christopher’s name for Christmas,” she said.
          Mitchell looked uneasy. “Will everyone call me Christopher from now on?”
          Three buildings in town were overrun by squirrels – the town hall, the hardware store and the church. The town hall brought in some cats. But after they tore up all the files, the mayor got rid of the predators, and soon the squirrels were back.
          The hardware store humanely trapped the squirrels and set them free outside town. But three days later, the squirrels climbed back in.
          Only the church came up with an effective solution. They baptized the squirrels and made them members. Now they see them only on Christmas and Easter.
February 6, 2010
Last month Reverend Boon gave us her top ten New Year resolutions and I wrote that I found them tempting and would let you know how I was doing with them. Well to be honest I put a copy of the resolutions on my desk with the intention of “seeing it would remind me” and somehow other paperwork was put on top, thus hiding it from me and I just rediscovered them today! I reviewed them again, still find them tempting and have resolved to recommit to them again. This time the list is in a more prominent place, and not likely to have paperwork placed on top! I’ll keep you updated!
